    Mario Badescu Review

2 weeks ago I received a lovely package from one of my all-time favorite brands Mario Badescu! I have been using their product since I was a teenager so I am really happy to see so much support from them:) I loved that they sent products that I’ve never tried before as well as some staples I have been running low on. Here they are:    Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater, 4 oz.:   This spray got me hooked on all things rose when I first bought it years ago. I have to say I love the rose scent that makes it feel like you’re squishing…

    One Love Organics Review

I received a package from One Love Organics last week, and I am feeling like one lucky albeit penniless blob. I’ve been wanting to try their products for a long time and because of their generosity, I finally got to! They sent me an assortment of amazing products that I started using the second I took them out of the box.  I have to say I am truly impressed with all of them. The packaging alone tells you a lot of thought and research went into each skincare item. It’s luxurious without being excessive yet holds a sufficient amount of product. The ingredient lists really got me excited especially because…

    Rosehive Superfoods Subscription Box

Rosehive Superfoods was kind enough to send me one of their monthly boxes filled with superfood goodies. The box alone is cause for anticipatory excitement. It’s simple and creative, on the box there is a print of a bee with the head of a rose and although that sounds weird it’s actually really pretty. Inside I found a variety of great snacks that are tasty as well as healthy! If you’re the kind of person who is always on the lookout for treats that are as good for you as they are delish Rosehive has got you covered. Every month they send out a new box filled with the latest superfood…

    Dreaming about better beauty sleep?

I’ve been having trouble getting a good night’s rest recently. Either I stay up late when I shouldn’t, or weird nightmares wake me up. So I started to change some of my sleeping habits and I can report a definite improvement in my mood and appearance. Sleep is so important for optimal mental and physical functioning but before your head hits the pillow and you’re dreaming the night away, read this! Here are a few practices that just might amp up your shut-eye time, or at least maximize the quality.   1.The Calm App:   I listen to The Calm App sleep stories when I’m tucked in bed, shutting my…

Books that make you more beautiful inside and out.

I find that the best thing I can do for myself is read. I mean really read a book, cover to cover. Nourishing your mind with literature helps you learn new things and use your imagination like nothing else. As a result, your body of knowledge grows and that can translate well for your social, mental, and physical health. I came up with a list of books that helped me out a lot! From fiction to nonfiction and the topics vary.   Hello Glow by Stephanie Gerber     Although not a novel I got this book as a birthday gift from my really good friend. This helped me kick off…

    Beauty & The Niche

Maybe this was inspired by my recent binge watching of Mad Men but I’ve definitely been noticing advertising and marketing tactics getting more and more specific in the past couple of years. Let’s face it, we don’t just buy products for what they have on the inside–packaging plays a big role in our purchases.Especially when it comes to personal products like hygiene and beauty care. But that’s ok. We should be buying items that we relate to and that makes us happy. Here are a couple of beauty brands that might appeal to you: For the Vintage and Retro Lover Besame Cosmetics : Benefit Cosmetics : theBalm : All three brands…

When life gives you lemons make a citrus infused body scrub.

Life is constantly throwing shit at us. We don’t always know what to do with it or how to deal with it. I’m not sure where the saying comes from but from my experience lemons are a great thing to have! I understand the idea behind it–you must channel life’s shit piles into something that makes you smile. (That was an accidental rhyme.) For me, creating helps alleviate life’s lemon-sucking moments and I encourage you to do the same. Start something without any judgment or expectation; just do it! Here are some ideas that worked for me: Drawing Painting Kickboxing Cooking D.I.Y. skincare–this one is a duh Create small dioramas…

When the “zit” is the joke.

I’ve been thinking lately about the recent positive turn social media has taken on skincare. The link between mental health and self-care is a lot closer than we thought. Here are some recent articles: Skincare and self-care. Makeup for mental health. The #acnepositive moment has finally arrived. More than ever, people are proudly holding up their acne-bedazzled heads up high. But I got one thing to say: where was this when I was growing up?? I could’ve used some of this positivity back in my high school days, and beyond… So it got me thinking–where did we get such shameful outlooks of our blemish-ridden skin? (bullies. of course.) I started…

    The Blob’s Beginnings

I started the Instagram account @abeautyblob to connect with others who feel the way I do about beauty products and regimens. My beauty care experience doesn’t come from a posh or luxurious place. I didn’t get into skin care because of a suddenly-noticed wrinkle on my face or because I earned so much money to spend on myself (although these are good reasons and I encourage your interest in vanity no matter how late in the game). In fact, I wish that’s why I became a beauty addict. And like most addicts, I fantasized about leaving it all to go live in the wild with just fresh spring water and…
